Native Voice
This was a quick turn-around, but with the clear storytelling in Nick Carmer’s designs and Justin Poirer’s great direction, this project ended up being a lot of fun to animate.
Native Voice is the on-demand voice services library for access to the brands you rely on every day to help you get more done. Our job was to showcase that ease of use as we introduced the product, while also making something that was fun to watch.
Smooth Transition
From the get-go, Nick’s design boards had some great transitions already thought out. It was my job to figure out how to pull them off on a tight timeline.
Keeping Things Flexible
This shot posed a problem. Creating the spinning notifications and messages in 2D was possible but time-consuming and I wanted the flexibility to change the animation quickly if we needed to.
So I created these in 3D instead and did a rough comp with the 2D scene. This allowed me to dial in the size, shape, color, and animation very quickly as we figured out what worked best.
Tricky Shot
What I originally thought would be one of the easier shots, turned out to be a bit tricky. As originally planned, this shot of the phone entering the pocket included a hand. The speed of the shot and the fact that the hand had to partially obscure the phone made this difficult in practice. I worked with Nick to design a new simpler shot of the phone entering on its own.
